Caterpillars Count! is a project hosted by UNC Chapel Hill's Department of Biology. For years, the project suffered from a glitchy website and mobile app, and it had a hard time gaining enough traction to crowdsource much data. In 2017, UNC hired me to completely rebuild the project's tech from the ground up. In under a year, I built a new, mobile-responsive website with in-depth functionality for the project as well as a brand new mobile app for the Apple App Store and Google Play. With the new tech in place, the project began experiencing growth like never before. The project is now international, has gained well over 100,000 surveys as of 2019, and continues to grow larger each year.

All students at UNC Chapel Hill use an online scheduling system to meet with academic advisors. In 2016, the university decided that this system was too outdated and hired me to develop a new, mobile-responsive interface for it that would be extremely easy to connect to a back end. Once completed, this interface was implemented in the CarolinaGO app, which serves the entire UNC Chapel Hill student body.
Diet Bloq

Diet Bloq is a beautifully designed app that helps you keep track of how you're fulfilling your nutritional needs on a daily basis. The developer, Jenny Buza, did an excellent job making the app appealing, functional, and easy to use, but she ran into a problem during testing. When she closed the app, it would forget all of the tracking data she had just input. Of course, this was detrimental to the app's usability, so she hired me to write some code for her that would help her store this data safely. I met her needs, and the app is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play. You can read more about this lovely project at dietbloq.com
Pick Evens

Pick Evens started as a web game that I made for fun while in college where you choose the even number while fighting against the clock. It only took three or four hours to make in total, but it became quite popular. Within ten days, Pick Evens acquired more than 7,000 users and gained more than enough donations to fund turning it into a mobile app for both Apple and Android, so that's what I did. You can find it on Google Play and the App Store now.
Bandit Events

Carpe Noctem, LLC hired me to create an app called Bandit Events that simplifies the complexities of event management. Bandit Events offers solutions to many problems. Firstly, it helps you find public events near you at any given time on any given day. There's no need to search around for things to do because they're all right in one place on Bandit events, and you can get GPS directions to the exact event you're looking for without ever even having to leave the app.
Secondly, Bandit Events offers the ability to host exclusive events that are only visible to people you send invitations to. You can include guest passes with these invitations, so your guests can invite people to come along as well. You can handle these guest passes however works best for you; Bandit Events won't hold you back. If you give someone 10 guest passes, he can invite a couple of his friends and give them their own guest passes from his allotted 10 to pass out themselves.
Thirdly, and obviously, Bandit Events eliminates the need for physical invitations or tickets. When you show up to an event, all you have to do is open the app and tap "Check in." That sends a notification to the event's authorized bouncer, and your name, photo, and age pop up on his phone. He can then either tap "Accept" or "Deny." If he accepts, you enter the event, and the system knows you're there.
That brings me to the fourth solution that Bandit Events offers, demographic analysis. Bandit Events offers event hosts detailed demographic analysis of their events' performances upon each event's conclusion. Hosts can view graphs of gender ratios, age ratios, and RSVP vs turnout ratios conveniently and easily. If hosts need to dive deeper, they can access detailed logs of every interaction a user had with their event. They can see names and photos of everyone that attended, what times they showed up, and more.
But breakdowns don't end there. People who are considering attending an event can see in real time how many people are currently there, how many have dropped in and left, and how many still plan to come. This helps anyone looking for an event to attend make an informed decision about where to go, whether they're looking for a densely populated or quiet environment.
